Euro 2012 flights aim for airport

AIRPORT bosses are looking into arranging flights from Doncaster to Ukraine – after England were drawn to play there in the Euro 2012 football tournament.

Robin Hood Airport had originally hoped the tournament next summer would see a stream of people flying from Doncaster aboard its scheduled flights to Poland.

An airport spokesman said: “There are currently no plans for scheduled services to Ukraine but we’ll wait to see if any opportunities for charter flights with fans materialise.

“Despite England playing their matches in the Ukraine, we still expect fans to travel to Poland to experience the tournament and take the opportunity of the convenience of flying from their local airport.”

Wizz Air runs a number of routes from Finningley to Poland.
