The event will take place on Monday March 14 involving short ceremony outside the Mechanics Institute in the town’s Market Square.
The service will begin when Baroness Liz Redfern reads out the Commonwealth message from the Secretary General at 9.45am.
Methodis minister Reverend David Leese (pictured) will then read the “Commonwealth Affirmation” before the head boy and girl from South Axholme Academy raise the flag together.
The band from South Axholme Academy will draw the event to a close with a rendering of the national anthem.
As an added attraction many of the shops and business premises in Epworth will display flags of the commonwealth nations in their windows, these have been made by children from Epworth Primary School.
A spokesman said: “We hope that residents will join in on the day and support the event.”
Coinciding with the Isle event, more than 850 flags will be raised in locations throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, UK Overseas Territories, and Commonwealth countries. This unique initiative, now in its third year, is again catching the imagination of thousands of participants from all walks of life, inspiring them to join with others throughout the Commonwealth.
