A group of concerned Hatfield residents have joined forces to protect the surrounding countryside from development.
Plans have been submitted to Doncaster Council from a firm called The Gladedale Group to build 1,500 homes off Doncaster Road – a move which neighbouring villagers are strongly against.
An action group, led by Stan Mee, has now been launched to protect the area’s greenfield spaces.
Fellow campaigner and parish councillor, Mick Glynn, said: “I am pleased to announce Hatfield residents have formed a new action group.
“HADGAG – or Hatfield And District Greenfield Action Group – was formed in response to planning proposals for up to 1,500 homes to be built off Doncaster Road in Hatfield.
“This is the area of A1 arable land directly behind the water tower on Doncaster Road.
“Unlike previous action groups that have been formed in the past, this group is dedicated to protecting all of Hatfield and the surrounding villages.
“Hatfield is a historical village and we need to protect its greenfield spaces.”
The group is now on the lookout for more members.
Anyone wishing to get involved, or who would like to help with fundraising, leaflet delivering or just making a donation, should contact Councillor Glynn by telephone on 01302 884565 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
