Epworth Primary Academy’s Gardening Club started earlier this year and has quickly transformed the school grounds. Pupils aged five to 11 with volunteer helpers are following the RHS gardening for schools scheme.

Such is the club’s success that its marrows and tomatoes won prizes in the recent Isle of Axholme Annual Horticultural Show. The adventurous bunch are also growing giant pumpkins to be harvested and cooked in school to encourage healthy eating.
