A special visitor dropped in at Hexthorpe Primary School’s ‘arts week’ with her new book.
Victoria Finlay’s latest book ‘The Brilliant History of Colour’ was inspired by Hexthorpe pupils who emailed her to ask how Ancient Egyptians made their paint.
Victoria, a recent guest on Radio 4’s ‘Museum of Curiosity’ was delighted to answer their questions, then agreed to attend the school’s arts week to talk about colour and painting.
Pupils even created their own book, ‘A Horrible History of Art and Colour’ using facts gleaned from Victoria’s work, such as that yellow paint was once made from cows’ urine, after the animals were force-fed mango leaves.
The author’s visit was much enjoyed by both pupils and staff.
