Pupils and staff at a Doncaster primary school are celebrating after receiving top marks across the board following an Ofsted inspection.
Scawsby Saltersgate Junior School was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in all four categories - the best rating.
The report was published following a two-day inspection at the Windsor Walk school on March 17 and 18.
Leadership and management, behaviour and safety of pupils, quality of teaching and achievement of pupils were all judged as outstanding.
Speaking about the leadership at the school, the report said: “Inspirational leadership from the headteacher and deputy headteacher rubs off on leaders and managers at every level.
“Staff and governors alike are ambitious for their own development, the achievement of their pupils and for their school.”
Teaching at the primary school was also praised by inspectors.
The report said: “Teachers’ expectations are consistently high, so pupils are always challenged to achieve to the very best of their abilities. Some pupils describe their teachers as ‘simply the best’.”
Speaking about pupil attainment, inspectors said: “Standards in reading, writing and mathematics are well above national averages and have been consistently so over time.
“Almost all pupils throughout the school make excellent progress.
“Pupils’ attitudes to learning are never less than exemplary.
“They thrive on the challenges of lessons and always strive to succeed.
“The quality of the work they do in books, and that displayed around the school, clearly exemplifies the pride pupils take in what they do.”
The only area inspectors said needed improvement was closer checks on the learning of disabled pupils and those with special educational needs.
Headteacher Mandy Oxer said: “Saltersgate Junior School is such a happy school and the inspection team were quick to pick up on the children’s outstanding behaviour.
“I was delighted inspectors recognised our children are ambitious in their learning – and their attitudes to learning are never less than exemplary.
“The team also acknowledged outstanding leadership and commented about teachers’ high expectations and rigorous challenge. Outstanding teaching was observed throughout the school.
“I would like to thank pupils, staff, governors and parents for their contribution to our Ofsted outstanding judgement and for their continued support.”
