New menu but meal prices rise

School meal prices will increase next term but council bosses say a new menu will be packed with fresh seasonal ingredients.

The price of a primary school meal will increase from £1.70 to £2 and a secondary meal will go up from £1.80 to £2.10 after Easter as part of Doncaster Council’s budget savings.

But catering chiefs say the new summer menu offers pupils as many tasty choices as possible with the emphasis on healthy, freshly cooked foods at an affordable price.

The menu features dishes such as salmon fishcakes and beef casserole as well as a daily seclection of breads, salads, fruit and yogurt.
