A day run by the new Children’s University initiative at North Lindsey College saw pupils from five Isle schools take part in many different activities.

Primary pupils learned all about the human skeleton and health facts before enjoying parachute games which were provided by the higher education sports team and students.

There was exploration of air powered rockets, with hair and beauty demonstrations of nail art, hairdressing on models and temporary tattooing. A construction tutor demonstrated skills at a basic level of building using straws as an example. The social science department challenged perceptions and stereotypes of criminology and celebrities through the use of images.

The Children’s University is a relatively new venture for North Lindsey College, and is part of a national non for profit organisation aimed at providing exciting out-of-school activities to develop new interests and skills for five to 14 year olds. The successful project is run in conjunction with a number of local partners, including North Lincolnshire Council and local schools.
