Exciting new start for schools’ centre

work has begun on the new multi-million pound Kingswood education and activity centre at Conisbrough.

The Mayor of Doncaster, Peter Davies, was there with the Kingswood team and contractors, Willmott Dixon, to put his spade in the ground and turn over the first sod.

The parkland-set centre is due to open in spring 2012 and will boast a unique range of activities such as high-adrenaline rope courses, all backed by sustainable facilities to include wind and solar power, waste water harvesting, biodiversity and recycling.

Mr Davies said, “This is a tremendous project, which makes use of the facilities of the former Earth Centre, and will be of major benefit to education and the local economy”.

Once it is open, the centre is set to become one of the UK’s top facilities for study, sports and technology, as well as a unique environmental sustainability education programme. Local schools will be offered discount, to benefit from the facilities on their doorstep.
