Pupils at a Wath school have reaped benefits from a mentoring programme run by the University of Sheffield.
Saint Pius X Catholic School students were among 315 who have received advice and direction from 60 mentors, all current University of Sheffield students.
The mentors work in dedicated teams to offer advice on Higher Education, on making informed GCSE choices, and developing key skills such as presenting, revision and research techniques.
The project aims to help pupils develop transferable skills and build up confidence in their own academic abilities.
One to one sessions take place from December to May. Next year the scheme will expand to 15 schools and 400 mentees in school years nine to 11, and 80 mentors.
Current participants will celebrate their successes at The University’s Octagon Centre on May 4.
