A Humberside Police spokesman said: “The unusual thing about these incidents is that the majority of them are taking place at a number of petrol stations, quite literally, one straight after the other. On other occasions the vehicle has been driven from as far away as Goole to Grimsby and then from Grimsby to Bridlington.

“Officers are working across the force in an attempt to try and locate the offender(s) who have been stealing the fuel, which at present totals over £2000. It is not known what is happening to the stolen fuel, it could be being sold on or taken into another force area.

“Petrol stations across the force are also working alongside police to try and target those people who are responsible.”

Anyone who may have information in connection with any of the fuel thefts can call Humberside Police tel 101 and quote log 156 of 06 January 2014.
