The two triumphant Thomas Rotherham College students competed against other entrants from across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

Four book prizes are awarded each year for proficiency in Spanish, funded through the Herbert Hughes Memorial Fund.

A spokesperson for Thomas Rotherham College said: “This is a big achievement for our students as they had to compete against students from other schools and colleges across the Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley areas. There were around 30 students on the day taking the exam.

“It is also great news for the college and the MFL department as it continues our tradition of achievement in this competition.”

Thomas Rotherham College is a Sixth Form College that specialises in advanced level 3 full-time courses for 16-19 year olds.
