Don't Tell The Bride appeals for South Yorkshire couples

A bride who got married in a Sheffield music venue after trusting her husband to plan their wedding day for a TV show is urging other couples to take part.

Ellis Armstrong trusted her boyfriend at the time, Luke Reid, to plan their big day as part of the Don’t Tell The Bride television series.

The couple, from Worksop, had a rave-themed wedding at the o2 Academy in Sheffield, with the venue decked out with glow sticks.

Ellis, aged 25, wore a traditional bridal gown complete with pink ‘rave trainers’ underneath and travelled to the venue in a vintage open-top fire engine - all chosen by Luke, who had three weeks to plan the day from scratch.

Producers of the show, which is now screened on Sky One, are looking for Sheffield couples to take part in a new series to be broadcast later in the year.

Ellis, who is now a mum after conceiving son Rueben on the couple’s wedding day, urged others to take part.

“It was a right laugh,” she said.

“We used to watch it, Luke applied and when we got accepted we both said that if we were going to do it we would do it properly and not give anything away about the wedding.

“Luke was so secretive but I trusted him and wouldn’t change a thing - I just wish the photographer had stayed around a bit longer.”

Ellis was presented with her gown the day before the wedding and found out what her 15 bridesmaids were wearing on the day.

“I didn’t know what to expect and that just added to the excitement of getting married, it was brilliant,” she added.
