Staff at Bawtry’s Mayflower Animal Sanctuary are still searching for a new home for black and white cat Katy who first arrived at the animal home early last year.

A spokesman for the centre said: “Five year old Katy has been in our care for a staggering 314 days.

“She arrived in our care last March as she wasn’t getting along with the other cat in the household.

“She had found life here extremely difficult and hid under her blanket for weeks, only coming out at night when it was quiet to have her dinner and use her tray.

“Gradually she became more confident and now spends most of her time sat on her chair watching the world go by.

“While learning more about Katy’s personality, it has become quite clear to her carers that she is a very anxious cat who doesn’t know how to react around new people.

“If she feels like she’s in a uncomfortable situation she will hiss and would possibly lash out or even bolt into her bedroom where she feels safe.

“Due to these behavioural issues we are looking for a quiet household in a remote area. Call into the sanctuary during opening times to meet Katy. Please don’t make her wait much longer.”

You can contact the sanctuary on email at [email protected] or telephone 01302 711330.
