Doncaster workers have cost the economy almost 200 by leaving work early during the summer heatwave.

The survey, carried out by Indoor and outdoor heating specialists Heat Traders, found that by leaving work just minutes early each day during our record-breaking hot summer, workers in the borough cost bosses £182.92. The data, which was collected by questioning 2,200 employees countrywide about their habits between June and August, found that Doncaster workers left 14.1 minutes early each day over the summer, on average. The study did find, however, that Doncaster workers were prepared to stay at their desk during the sunshine longer than workers in any other part of country, with the amount of time they took off the end of their working day being the least. Workers in the West Midlands took the most time off left, abandoning their desks 23.5 minutes before they were due to clock off in favour of soaking up some summer sun. Across the country, early finishes cost the UK economy £10.8 billion. Â
