Market Asset Management and Doncaster Council, which run the indoor venue, said that it had ‘undertaken the necessary precautions’ following the confirmation of a coronavirus case in the building.

A spokesman for MAM said: "We are aware of one case but the trader in question had not been on site for some time prior.

"We have undertaken the necessary precautions and additional deep cleaning, and Doncaster’s Environmental Health team have confirmed they are satisfied with our response.

"As with all locations we have systems in place if we have any confirmed cases, and close contacts have been tracked and advised to isolate as a precaution in line with the NHS Track and Trace process."

MAM has not confirmed which stallholder has tested positive.

The Wool Market re-opened last year after a £7 million revamp.
