Doncaster Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson tops 2015 Google search

The TV motormouth clocked up more searches in the UK than the Paris terror attacks and the UK General Election according to the internet search engine.

Clarkson was the most searched for male celebrity ahead of US basketball ace and reality TV star Lamar Odom with celeb blogger Perez Hilton, actor Charlie Sheen and disgraced I’m A Celebrity star Spencer Matthews making up the rest of the top five.

The presenter, sacked for punching a producer in a row over a steak, was the fourth biggest search term on Google this year.

The most searched-for story of the year, according to the technology giant, was that of the passing of much-loved entertainer Cilla Black at her villa in Spain in August.

Second on the list was Lady Colin Campbell, who courted controversy on reality TV show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, with the Rugby World Cup in third place, just ahead of Clarkson.

The iPhone 6s and dinosaur movie Jurassic World also figured in the top 10.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was the top trending politician of the year, ahead of former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy, with Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon, Miliband brothers Ed and David, and US presidential hopeful Donald Trump also on the list.
