This Saturday has been dubbed ‘The Great Reopening’ on social media, with a call by anti-lockdown protesters for shops, cafes, hair salons and restaurants to ignore closure rules and re-open their doors.
It is not clear who is behind the proposals or whether any local businesses intend to ignore the Covid-19 restrictions and re-open their doors in an act of defiance, but those flouting the current lockdown could face hefty fines.

Firms can be fined up to £1,000 for opening – while repeated breaches can clock up increasingly heavier and heavier fines, with one West Yorkshire hairdressing salon stacking up fines of £17,000 for repeatedly opening during lockdowns.
A Facebook page called The Great Reopening simply states: “Business owners, open your business.
"We must unite and stand together for our freedom.”
Several businesses have cited the Magna Carta as a loophole to stay open, while a number of gym owners across Britain have also been fined for keeping their doors open to customers.
