Adding to the Welcome to Yorkshire branded FlyBe plane created to celebrate the new Flybe routes from Doncaster Sheffield, is a branded car with a mini plane on top which will be part of the race procession this weekend.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “We are all looking forward to this globally-renowned cycling event, the Tour de Yorkshire, coming to our region.

“We will be delighted to welcome the elite cyclists to Yorkshire and many inbound tourists through our Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin routes coming for the race.

“We look forward to seeing our FlyBe branded car and the #PurplePlane across the race route, complementing our Welcome to Yorkshire Flybe plane which has been seen across Europe promoting the region.

“As Welcome to Yorkshire’s official airport partner and with their official airline partner Flybe we’ve put our full backing behind this event.”

The airport and Flybe are also sponsoring the Team Classification jersey of the Women’s Race awarded to the highest ranking total team finish in partnership as further to Flybe’s establishment of new base at the Yorkshire airport, resulting in an extra 42 flights per week departing.
