A Doncaster school boy has raised over £300 for charity by completing a sponsored bike ride.
William Allen, 11, of Scawsby cycled round four laps of the Lakeside track last month to raise money to the Scarlett Eve Fund.
The charity, based in Doncaster Women’s Hospital, donates memory boxes to parents who have lost babies, wither though stillbirth or shortly after birth.
It was set up by family friend Emma Sudworth, who lost her daughter, Scarlett Eve Sudworth, two days after she was born in December 2005.
William, a pupil at Saltersgate Junior School, raised a total of £375.
He was sponsored by family, friends and classmates.
William said: “My grandma, who died last year, used to crochet blankets for the memory boxes so I did it for her as well as Emma.
“I enjoyed the bike ride. I had planned to do three laps of the lake but as some people sponsored per lap so I did four to raise the extra money.”
William is seen here presenting the cheque to Emma.
