Doncaster’s historic Mansion House will host its first wedding next year.

The building, which has remained largely unused since Doncaster Council’s move to the new Civic Offices in Sir Nigel Gresley Square, will see the first couple tie the knot in March.

The historic building is the subject of the latest ‘Seven Wonders of Doncaster’ tourism video which encourages people to enjoy the buildings and places on their doorstep.

This week’s film sees fictional traveller Henry in his element as he takes in the splendour of the Mansion House.

The campaign continues to grow with more than 2,100 views of the first two videos on YouTube in the first fortnight.

The Mansion House has recently been opened up for more public events following the transfer of council meetings to the new Civic Office on Waterdale.

As well as weddings, upcoming events include a Bollywood evening, a Jazz evening on 29 November with Winston’s Pennine Jazz, a Christmas Fair on 7 December and Tea Dance on 20 December.

Further information on all of these events is available at

Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, said: “Through these videos we are reaching out to people across the country and the world, showing them the great things about Doncaster in a light hearted way. Make sure you check out the latest video and please remember to use our hash-tag #7wondersdoncaster.”

The Seven Wonders of Doncaster are: The new theatre - Cast, Cusworth Hall, Doncaster Racecourse, the Mansion House, Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, shopping and the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Videos will be released one a week through the council’s YouTube account and promoted through the My Doncaster Facebook and Twitter pages.
