Rovers turned in arguably their most disappointing and toothless performance of the season in losing 2-0 at The Valley earlier this month.

And as they prepare to head back to South London for their FA Cup second round clash, Marquis insists Rovers have a point to prove against the Addicks.

'I think we owe ourselves it more than anything,' Marquis told the Free Press.

'There's not been many games this season where I've felt we've been way off it.

'We started well in that game, the first ten or 15 minutes, but then we disappointed ourselves, our fans, our manager. I think the manager said at the time that we looked like we didn't have the belief to score or get back into the game which isn't like us at all.

'That was frustrating the way that game ended.

'We've got an opportunity to get into the third round of the cup, where the big teams come in, and get a good draw.'

He added: 'I don't know what's going to happen with team selection but whatever team we pick, we will be going there to win the game.

'We will go feeling we owe it to ourselves to win the game.'
