Marosi was withdrawn early in the second half of Saturday's defeat at Blackpool and left Bloomfield Road on crutches.

The injury was suffered in his attempt to keep out Blackpool's third goal and left him unable to prevent the hosts from scoring a fourth soon afterwards.

But Darren Ferguson says the injury was not as severe as first feared and the 23-year-old could be back in goal to face the Chairboys at the Keepmoat on Saturday.

"He's not bad," Ferguson said. "He might be fit for Saturday.

"He injured himself diving for the third goal.

He's just caught himself and we thought it was going to be a lot more serious. In fact we felt at one point we might have to send him straight to the hospital to get an x-ray.

"We thought the muscle had come away from the bone at first.

"Once the Blackpool doctor and our physio looked at it, it wasn't as bad as we first thought.

"He's got half a chance for Saturday which is quite surprising given the nature of how he was after the game."

Another player facing a race to be fit for the weekend is Cedric Evina.

Ferguson said: "He's just got an injury to his toe.

"He's had an x-ray and he's ok in terms of there's no injury to the bone."

Both Craig Alcock and Frazer Richardson are stepping up their returns from injury but are unlikely to be considered before next weekend's FA Cup tie at Oldham Athletic.

A scheduled friendly with Notts County, due for Tuesday, was called off at the request of John Sheridan's side.
