But the 21-year-old centre back - a Wales Under-21 international - did not take that much persuading to become the newest member of Fergie’s Rovers revolution.

Yorkshire lad Wright rejected an offer to stay at Huddersfield Town to pen a two-year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium and become Doncaster’s fifth new signing since their relegation to League Two.

Upon joining Rovers, the defender described his move as a “no-brainer” and also gave an insight into the detailed work of Ferguson as he plots promotion back to the third tier at the first attempt.

“The gaffer did a presentation when I came,” revealed Wright, who hails from nearby Monk Fryston but qualifies for Wales through his grandparents.

“It was very professional and explained what he expected from myself, the team and how we should play.

“It made me feel very welcome, very wanted by the club and that’s a good thing.”

He added: “The ambition of the club [attracted me]. It’s a big club that shouldn’t really be in this league so hopefully we’ll be getting promoted out of the league straight away.

“And it’s not far from home, that’s another positive, so I know what people are like here in Yorkshire and I’ll hope to use that to my benefit.

“I got a phone call from my agent and he said that Doncaster were involved. As soon as he said that I was delighted.

“It was an easy decision for myself, there were some other clubs involved but really it was a no-brainer.”

Nathan Tyson’s contract has been terminated, Rovers confirmed yesterday.
