Doncaster Rovers: More arrivals wouldn't depend on departures

Thorsten Stuckmann, Dany N’Guessan and Billy Whitehouse remain on Rovers’ books despite being transfer-listed by boss Darren Ferguson at the end of last season.

While finding new clubs for the players is the priority, chief executive Baldwin says the club are free to add to the nine signings already made this summer.

Rovers are currently looking to make two loan signings from Premier League clubs and are in talks with one player over a permanent deal.

Baldwin told The Star: “Darren has made it clear they’re not in his plans so we are working with them to get the best possible deal at another club and get them sorted by the end of the month.

“If not, the options are they stay or we come to an agreement on their contract.

“But what it doesn’t do is stop these Premier League players coming in.

“The board have been very clear about that.

“If we can do the right deal – which we believe we can with the conversations we’ve had – these aren’t stopping others coming in.”

Baldwin says the Rovers are keen to help the transfer-listed trio continue their careers elsewhere and are striving to find new clubs for them.

He said: “We want to look after their careers.

“Stuckmann for example, he’s still training with the first team squad. He’s adding to training, everyone thinks he’s a great guy.

“We want him to do well. It’s just that he doesn’t fit into the manager’s plans.

“It’s not personal, and therefore we’ll do everything we can to help him.

“He’s been close, very close. We had a club, agreed terms, he agreed terms and they pulled out on the day which must have been so frustrating for him.

“There are options at the end of the month but the number one option is that we want to help them find another club.”

Rovers are back in friendly action tonight against Championship giants Newcastle United in a 7.45pm kick off at the Keepmoat.

Luke McCullough will not feature for Rovers with Ferguson keen for the midfielder to be put through a full week’s training after returning from his break following his Euro 2016 duty with Northern Ireland.
