But you will not catch the club's all-time record appearance maker getting carried away just yet.

Rovers emphatically ended Walsall's unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable 4-1 triumph on Saturday.

And Coppinger believes it was another sign that they are capable of achieving big things this season.

"I don't want to get carried away and I know it's easy after Saturday,' he said.

"But I can sense something, if we maintain our performance day in day out.

'We've got a magnificent staff, the physio, sports scientist '“ the people who are working players off the pitch have been absolutely outstanding.

"People are working so hard and are so driven to succeed.

'That is not just this season, it's been going on for the last two or three seasons.

'We're reaping the rewards and benefits of that.

"But just because you win a game, you can't just let it die down.

'That is something that I'll be emphasising, and I'm sure Andy Butler will. I think the manager and Cliff [Byrne,  will do too. Nobody gets carried away.'

Coppinger said for him Saturday's result was never in doubt even before a ball had been kicked.

Powering that belief was the manner in which Rovers had trained throughout the week, plus the emotional experience the entire squad went through on Friday as they attended the funeral of popular supporter Jake '˜Pieman' Power.

'I could sense it,' he said.

'It was the way we've been training. On Thursday and Friday, the tempo we trained at.

'We do passing drills, we do things every day but it's the way we've been doing it and the way people are demanding from each other.

'They're demanding it from themselves and they're demanding it from each other.

'Whether we won or lost, we were always going to put in a performance. It's no coincidence that we did.

'I can just sense that we're going into games fully prepared, with a never say die attitude.

'It was never in doubt for me.'
