And he says standards have been raised - both on the pitch and in the stands.

Rovers’ skipper cut a frustrated figure after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Gillingham, despite the late comeback.

But he was also keen to underline the positive feeling currently coursing through the club - and also pay tribute to the fans involved in the Black Bank movement after supporters stuck with their team after they went 2-0 down.

“The fans have been excellent at home this season,” said Coppinger.

“Obviously against Stoke, with a Premier League team coming, you’d expect a good atmosphere.

“When you play Gillingham at home it’s a different sort of occasion but they kept on believing and they’ve been brilliant.

“They’ve obviously started from scratch and tried to build something,” he added.

“It’s a great place to be at the moment, as a player and as a supporter. Hopefully it will continue.”

The spirit inside the Rovers camp, Coppinger says, is excellent after a run of just two defeats in ten games.

Under Darren Ferguson, Doncaster have won nine out of 17 games in all competitions and jumped from 23rd in League One to 12th.

“The standards have been raised,” said Coppinger.

“Even in training every day we’re doing really well and maintaining those standards.

“We were disappointed not to get the three points on Saturday.

“I honestly thought we were going to win the game at 2-0 down and it’s a great feeling as a player to have that.”
