Doncaster Rovers: '˜I want more from us at the Keepmoat' says Grant McCann

McCann feels Rovers '“ who host both Gillingham and Sunderland over the next five days '“ have been better on the road so far this season despite losing just one home game.

'I'm looking for a wee bit more from us at home,' he told the Free Press.

'Our form has been good, we've only lost one, but I don't think we've looked as dangerous at home as we have in away games.

'I think it shows by the goals we've scored.

'We're not conceding many - we conceded four in one game but before that only two - but I want us to look more dangerous at home than what we are doing.'

While he believes more sluggish performances may have something to do with how opposition teams set up, McCann says it is up to Rovers to figure out how to unlock sides in the same manner they have done in away games.

He said: 'Maybe away from home we're getting a bit more space where we can break quicker.

'But then we have to find a different solution.

'We're working with the players on doing that.

'At times when you can't go forward, then you retain possession but with a purpose, not just passing it sideways and backwards for the sake of it.

'We're working on that and we're ready if Gillingham want to sit behind the ball we're ready and if they want to come and attack then we're ready.'

Saturday's visitors Gillingham have won just once in their last 12 matches but McCann insists his side cannot be complacent and look ahead to the clash with fellow high-flyers Sunderland, who will bring around 4,000 fans to the Keepmoat on Tuesday.

This game, winning on Saturday, would set us up nicely for Tuesday,' he said.

'But our only focus is on Saturday. We're not looking beyond that at all.

'I'm sure Sunderland are saying the same thing.

'Maybe some of their players don't even know they're playing us Tuesday. That is a mentality I like to have.

'Gillingham is a tough game and they've got players that can hurt us.

'We need to be focused and switched on.
