Doncaster Rovers: Grant McCann keen to begin contract talks quickly
McCann met with chairman David Blunt and chief executive Gavin Baldwin on Thursday to discuss his early plans for the January window.
But top of the agenda were his thoughts on which of the 23 players whose contracts expire next summer that he wants to open official talks with quickly.

Hide Ad'We've had discussions with players,' he told the Free Press.
'I've had discussions with players who are approaching the end of their contracts.
'I've planted the seeds with them.
'I'll rubberstamp that on Thursday and hopefully we can get cracked on with them.'
The futures of loanees Herbie Kane, Mallik Wilks and Jermaine Anderson were also up for discussion.

Hide AdWhile Rovers have received positive feedback from the trio's parent clubs, McCann says he is not taking it for granted that requests for extensions will be granted.
We'll be talking about the loans with Herbie, Jermaine, Mallik '“Â can we extend them and things like that,' McCann said.
'I've had it in the past where someone does well on loan and the club moves the goalposts in terms of we could have him for that originally but he's done well so now it's doubled.
'We have to be careful we don't get drawn into a situation like that.'
