Rovers welcome newly-promoted Luton Town to the Keepmoat Stadium this weekend on the back of hugely encouraging performances against League One pacesetters Portsmouth and Peterborough United.

But, with his side searching for their first win in seven games in all competitions, McCann has stressed the importance of being more ruthless in front of goal.

Doncaster had no fewer than 23 shots at London Road last weekend but had to settle for a 1-1 draw against high-flying Posh.

Against Pompey, a game which ended goalless, they had 16 attempts at goal compared to the visitors' 11.

Rovers have scored seven goals in their opening six league games.

'The players know my frustrations,' said McCann at his pre-match press conference.

'Whatever I feel I always tell them, and they heard from me in a meeting with the group about why I'm frustrated in terms of the league games.

'It's three draws in a row now.

'If you look back at those games I think we probably deserved to win all three.

'The chances that we've missed are just as bad as conceding from a wide free-kick.

'The group knew that this morning.

'We need to start being ruthless and we need to punish teams because the performance levels as a whole in the league have been very good.

'If we can keep those performance levels the results will come.

'But we need to make sure we start being more clinical.'

Meanwhile, McCann described captain Tommy Rowe's latest hamstring injury as '˜not good' and will learn more about the extent of the problem over the next 24 hours.

Danny Andrew (foot) and Joe Wright (ankle) are both fit to face the Hatters, while Ali Crawford and Danny Amos are making good progress and are '˜very close' to returning to the fray.
