The midfielder returned to parent club Chelsea over the weekend after picking up a knee injury in training for Rovers on Friday.

But he was back at Cantley Park on Tuesday and took part in training with the injury not as bad as first feared.

“Jordan is fine,” Ferguson told The Star. “He trained with us today.

“It was too much of a risk because of the swelling in his knee, and given the past he’s had with his knees, we had to send him back to Chelsea.

“We erred on the side of caution.

“I fully expected him to be back with us.

“But he has recovered really well and it was a simple case of it being a slight knock that we didn’t want to risk.

“My physio makes the decision based on what he’s seen.

“We thought it was logical to send him back to Chelsea, given that we were down in Gillingham and it’s not far off.

“Their physio completely agreed with ours. It was a little bit of swelling on it that we thought would recover quickly.

“And it has done.”

The Rovers squad were given Monday off with Ferguson taking a final opportunity to hand them an extra rest day as the club have two games per week until the end of the season following this weekend.

Tom Anderson is fit to face MK Dons on Saturday after recovering from his facial injury.

But Ferguson says at least one of his centre backs will be disappointed when he names his matchday 18.

“Tom trained and he’ll be available for Saturday. He trained very well.

“He’s recovered really quickly, his fitness is good.

“I’m not going to have five centre halves in my 18 so someone is going to have miss out.

“I’ll have to make that decision nearer the time.”
