Doncaster Rovers: Don't make it easy for Charlton!

Darren Ferguson has urged his Rovers side to not give Charlton Athletic another early opening when they visit the Keepmoat this weekend.

Rovers started poorly in the reverse fixture at The Valley in October with Tarique Fosu giving Karl Robinson’s side an early lead.

And Ferguson says they must guard against giving the Addicks’ top players the chance to hurt them again.

“Reflecting back on that game we didn’t play well at all in the first half,” Ferguson told the Free Press.

“In the second half we were pushing a bit more and they hit us quite a few times on the counter.

“Fosu in particular was good for them and he’s back fit after a while out.

“They’ve got so many options, wide players, tens, a lot of options they can play.

“They have got players who can hurt us so we have to find a way of stopping them.

“One way to do that is being good on the ball. If you’re not, then it’s going to cause you problems.”

Ferguson is expecting an entertaining clash on Saturday as Rovers hunt their first win of 2018.

He said: “It’ll be two good teams that try to play the right way.

“The most important thing for us is getting the three points and getting back to winning ways.”
