Ferguson missed Rovers’ final league game of the season against Wigan Athletic after the former Manchester United manager underwent emergency surgery for a brain haemorrhage.

United issued a statement on Wednesday saying the 76-year-old had been moved out of intensive care and would continue his rehabilitation as an inpatient.

“On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to thank the huge number of people who have been kind enough to send messages of support during a difficult time,” said Darren.
