Rovers will spend next season in the fourth tier of English football for the first time since 2003/04.

The club has now been relegated in three of the last five seasons, dropping from Championship to League Two.

Baldwin says the short term aim is to win promotion from League Two as quickly as possible.

The ultimate aim, he says, is to challenge for promotion to the Championship.

Writing in his programme notes, Baldwin said: “Despite some better results of late everyone at Doncaster Rovers is hurting that this season hasn’t been more fruitful on the pitch and we must now look to put that right throughout the summer.

“We are conscious that relegation was far from our plan when we started this season in August and we now must re-assure you that our goal is to re-establish this club in League One with the ultimate aim of challenging for promotion to the Championship.

“We will as a board communicate very soon as to how we intend to achieve these aspirations and we will continue to communicate with you throughout the coming weeks and months.

“We want you to be fully aware of our plans to improve this football club on and off the field with our immediate goal to re-establish this club in League One with the ultimate aim of challenging for promotion to the Championship.”
