Doncaster Rovers announce Thailand tour will take place in 2018

Doncaster Rovers' proposed pre-season tour of Thailand will now take place next year, the club has announced.

The trip has been put back 12 months to allow more time for planning.

“Rovers expect to hold a training camp in Thailand as part of their preparations for the 2018/19 season,” said a club statement.

“The trip has grown from the relationship Club Doncaster enjoys with kit suppliers FBT, and will see Rovers use some of the best facilities available in the Far East country.

“Rovers had originally hoped to make the trip this summer, but have put it back one year to ensure it meets our footballing requirements – with the extra 12 months providing time to research areas such as nutrition and training schedule to ensure players are in peak condition.”

Darren Ferguson told Rovers’ official website: “This tour will enhance our preparations for the 2018/19 campaign, and we are fully committed to the trip.

“It will provide a real opportunity for team building and set us up for a successful season.”

Andrew Whitham, Club Doncaster’s head of commercial affairs, said: “Gavin Baldwin and myself have been to see the facilities that we will use, and we were both impressed with what is being provided.

“We will confirm dates as soon as we can. We will have a range of packages available for supporters to join us, as well as an option to spread payment over a period of time to make it as affordable as possible.

“By planning this far in advance we will ensure the trip meets everyone’s needs, and gives fans the greatest possible chance of joining us for what will be a memorable experience.”
