Blaney joined Rovers from League of Ireland side Finn Harps last month and featured at centre half in the derby clash at Cantley Park.

Rovers fielded Alfie May, who had requested to play for sharpness, and Will Longbottom, on his return from injury.

Joshua Kayode put Rotherham ahead with a fine header from a Reece McGinley cross.

Danny Amos – currently on loan with Buxton – equalised for Rovers when his cross squeezed through the Rotherham defence and found the far bottom corner.

Kayode twice hit the woodwork as the Millers pushed for the winner but Rovers held on in wintery conditions.
