Dons boss Gary Thornton is determined there will be no giant-killing act by Myton Warriors in tomorrow's Ladbrokes Challenge Cup third round tie at the Keepmoat Stadium (3pm).

“These ties against the top amateur sides are always tricky and they can go either way in the first 20 minutes,” he said.

“If they start well and get their tails up it could be a long afternoon for us.

“It’s their cup final if you like and they are going to come here and throw everything at us.

“I will be looking for us to put right some wrongs from Sunday and for the players to show me that they are up for the challenge when our league campaign starts on Sunday week because some of them weren’t last weekend.

“I’m expecting a massive reaction and will be looking at this game to get our attacking structure sorted out ahead of the Coventry match.”

Myton’s head coach Tony Spence, who has sounded out Barrow boss and close friend Paul Crarey for advice, told The Star: “Doncaster like to come out and start fast and they will try to blow us off the park early so it will be up to my lads to dig in, play smart and weather the storm.

“We know it’s coming so it’s just a case of what we can do about it. We’ve certainly got to try and be competitive around the ruck area.

“The lads are really looking forward to the challenge and have trained extra hard since the draw was made and are desperate to give a good account of themselves.

“For some it will be their first game at this level but half-a-dozen, including captain Kris Walker, played against Halifax and Dewsbury.”
