Doncaster RLFC: Jordan Howden set to make comeback in Challenge Cup clash with Myton Warriors

Howden, who had surgery on the hip problem after missing much of last season, had been expected to be out for another fortnight or so.

But the injury to Jack Miller and the unavailability of dual-registered Hakim Miloudi has seen his comeback plans brought forward.

Despite not having featured in either of the club’s warm-up games, Howden has been ‘flying’ in recent training sessions and the coaching staff have no worries about playing the half-back.

The club are still waiting to find out the extent of Miller’s ankle injury.

“We don’t think it is as bad as first feared but we won’t know until he has had a scan,” said assistant boss Pete Green.

French international Miloudi, who came on for Miller in Sunday’s opening Division One win over Coventry and equalled the club’ points in a game record, has not been made available by Hull FC this week to avoid being cup-tied.

“Apart from Jack and Hakim it will be basically the same squad as last week with the addition of Brandan Wilkinson,” said Green.

“We thought about looking at one or two options but we decided we’d done enough in friendlies and it is time to start building a few combinations and getting some stability.

The game is a repeat of last season’s third round tie during which the NCL Premier Division side won themselves many friends.

“They were well drilled and well coached last year and kept going and I’m sure it will be the same again on Sunday,” said Green.
