Doncaster RLFC: 2017 fixtures announced '“ but without a trip to Canada

The Dons have been denied an all-expenses paid trip to Canada next season by the fixtures computer.

Toronto Wolfpack will enter League 1 next season and will pay the travel costs of opposition teams having to face them at their Lamport Stadium home.

But the Dons will not be heading across the Atlantic after only being drawn at home against the Wolfpack for the forthcoming campaign.

Each of the teams in the division play each other just once before the split into the Super 8s.

Toronto are set to visit the Keepmoat on April 9.

The Dons begin the season with a home clash against a much closer visitor Coventry Bears on March 5 before travelling to North Wales Crusaders a week later.

Gary Thornton’s side will play eight of their 15 games at home as they look to secure a return to the Championship after missing out in the play-offs last term.

The Dons have been granted a bye on Good Friday, April 14, as the RFL continue to monitor the situation surrounding York City Knights.
