Doncaster recycling plant blaze likely to be out tomorrow as fire rages for 60 hours

A huge recycling plant blaze which has raged for four days could be put out tomorrow, fire chiefs have said.

Crews are still tackling flames and smoke at the Morris Metals plant in Balby Carr Bank after the huge inferno broke out on Monday night.

It means South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue crews have now been fighting the massive blaze for more than 60 hours.

In an update this morning, a spokesman said: “We are now down to three fire engines at the Balby blaze and expect the fire to be out tomorrow.

"The smoke plume has now reduced even more and an investigation into the cause is underway.

"Huge thank you to local people for their patience, and our partners for their support.”
