Doncaster primary school on alert after pupil is approached by stranger

Police are carrying high visibility patrols after a Doncaster primary school pupil was offered a lift by a stranger on his way to school.

The 10-year-old boy was approached by a woman in a car on his way to Kingfisher Primary in Coventry Grove on Monday morning.

Additional high visibility police patrols are being carried out in the area following the incident.

Police Inspector Lynne Lancaster said: "Police are investigating following a report of a child being approached by a woman who offered him a lift as walked to school on Monday.

"The incident is thought to have occurred around 8.40am on Coventry Grove, when a black female driving a red coloured Kia car approached a 10-year-old boy and asked if he wanted a lift to school. The boy ran to school and told his mum when he got home.

"We have spoken to the family of the child and Kingfisher School have also been made aware of the incident. I understand this is concerning but we have not received any similar reports and we are continuing to carry out additional high visibility patrols in the area."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 and quoting incident number 178 of March 1.
