Doncaster Plant Works ABC set for anniversary show

Doncaster Plant Works Amateur Boxing Club will mark its 85th anniversary year with a show tomorrow night.

Plant have organised a full programme of fights for their boxers with others from the local area also set to feature in the home corner at Rossington Miners Welfare.

With members Tom Bell and Reece Mould having recently joined the professional ranks, the show marks a new beginning for the club.

It will be a new beginning for youngster Nathan Earl who is set to make his debut in a skills bout against an opponent from Hull. Also set for the experience-building skills bouts are Charlie Ellis and Riley Smith.

The club’s first ever female fighter Tyla Burdis will make her debut against a Lancashire opponent at 50kg.

Colby Tongue will take part in his 11th bout against a Birmingham fighter at 33kg while Rhys Guilliam will be in action at 52kg.

Curtis Greaves is set for a rematch at 57kg with Ryan Sagar from Bradford club Karmand Centre. Greaves suffered a defeat in the first outing on the Doncaster South ABC show in January.

The experienced Jake Goodwin will compete in his 34th bout against Middlesbrough’s Morgan Guest at 67kg in what should be a tough fight.

Closing out the show will be Tom Hill ABC’s Matthew Neilson against a Scarborough opponent in an 81kg senior contest.

Doors for the show open at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 for adults or £5 for under 14s.
