Doncaster Civic Mayor Councillor Paul Wray and Mayoress Mrs Liz Marsden joined party guests, who also included Lawson Pater, Chairman of Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), to enjoy some good old fashioned dancing and singing before tucking into a party buffet at the annual event held by the Doncaster Dementia Forum at Forest Gate Day Hospital on the Tickhill Road site base of RDaSH.

RDaSH Governor Eileen Harrington, who is chairman of the Forum said: “Christmas can be a difficult time for people living with dementia and people may feel isolated or unable to attend family gatherings.

“Dancing and singing Carols are both great ways to stimulate body and mind, and they also allow people to participate in a joint activity.

“We had a fantastic time and it was lovely to see everyone smiling and enjoying themselves.”

Doncaster Dementia Forum is a service user and carer led Forum supported by RDaSH. The Forum has gone from strength to strength over the last five years and is crucial in ensuring the person with dementia and their carer’s voices are heard by commissioners and decision makers.

The Forum has an informal atmosphere with friendly peer support and is held at Forest Gate Day Hospital on the second Wednesday of each month at 1pm. New members are always welcome.
