The club spent ten seasons based at the Keepmoat’s adjoining athletics arena but say ‘off field issues’ have resulted in them cutting their ties with the venue.

“We’ve enjoyed a great ten years here,” said Mustangs general manager Mark Blyth on the club’s website.

“But over the last couple of years, actually staging a game has become a bit of a nightmare.

“We acknowledge that we are only a small customer, but since the council relinquished the running of the stadium, we’ve seen the level of customer service drop to virtually zero.

“It’s a shame, but we have had enough.”

He added: “So now a new era begins just off York Road. The team will train and play their games at the Brunel Road ground from January.

“It’s nice to feel welcomed by WHRUFC.

“There is a proper sense of ‘family’ here and it’s a great feeling. We are really looking forward to the coming season and beyond.

“And it will also be nice to finally have somewhere to have a drink and socialise after a game.”
