Doncaster motorbike park to re-open this week to allow people to exercise

The owner of a Doncaster motorbike park has said he will re-open this week to allow people from the same households to enjoy socially distanced sport and exercise together.

Eddie Todd, owner of Carcroft-based Uncle Eddies, was forced to shut his business at the start of the lockdown.

But following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s speech last night, Mr Todd says the bike park will be back in operation on Wednesday.

He said: “This is a private sports park facility where people can exercise.

“The sport must take place with family members and members of your same household only.

Travel is allowed to and from our park but only with family members or people who live in the same household, this means that you cannot share a van or vehicle you can only come on your own or with family members or on your bike.

Mr Todd has also drawn up his list of guidelines for re-opening the track.

In a Facebook post he wrote:

“All attendees must follow social distancing of 2 metres apart inside the park.

“All attendees must park 4 metres apart which exceeds the recommendations in car parks.

“All high-risk persons, as determined by health department, are asked not to attend.

“Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms are not allowed to attend.

“All helpers and volunteers must follow all social distancing suggestions at all times only one person at one time will be in the kitchen or office.

“The park will be an open stay fit park only no racing or race practice will be allowed when riding you must stay at least 2 metres apart the tracks are 6 metres wide and the park is 25 acres.

“Toilets will be open and available to one person at a time including hand washIng sinks. Toilets will be sanitized and disinfected periodically to maintain cleanliness.

“Sanitiser will be sprayed on every participant’s hands on arrival and all fixtures and fittings have been sanitised. All food will be takeaway collection and ordering will be one at a time from the window. Congregating will not be allowed.”

Added Mr Todd: “We will strictly enforce our government rules - do not vehicle share or you will not be allowed into the park. Do not get closer than two metres to anyone when and after you come into the park. Together we will beat this virus.”

He said the park would be open every day from 8.30am until 5pm.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister Boris Johnson said people could now meet in parks to take part in sport, as long as they were from the same household.

Further guidance is to be issued by the Government and it is not known at this stage if the rules apply to motorsport.
