The body of a Doncaster man has been recovered from the foot of cliffs at Beachy Head in Sussex.

The remains of Robert Bower, 25, of Old Mill Road, Conisbrough, was discovered on Saturday morning, November 2.

Sussex Police had been alerted by officers in South Yorkshire that the man was thought to be heading for Sussex and a search was launched after the car was found in the main car park at the top of Beachy Head around 5pm last Friday.

A Coastguard helicopter checked the area that evening, but the search was stood down about 11.30pm.

Shortly after 10am last Saturday, coastguards found Mr Bower’s body at the bottom of the cliffs and the Eastbourne inshore lifeboat was called in to recover it.

Sussex Police have officially identified him. Officers are not treating his death as suspicious and the case has been passed to the coroner’s officer.
