A Doncaster man has been killed in an industrial accident in Hull.
Police say the death of the 37-year-old man in Hull city centre yesterday afternoon is likely to have been “a tragic accident”.
The man, who has not yet been named, was fatally injured while working at Queens House, Paragon Street.
More than a dozen emergency vehicles were called to the property, near Hull City Hall, shortly before 4pm.
It is understood the man died in an accident involving a lift.
A police spokesman said: “It looks very much like a tragic industrial accident and police will put together a file for the coroner.”
Hull City Council is now leading the investigation.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said: “The man is thought to have been working in an area around the lifts in Queens House, Paragon Street, when an incident happened, which resulted in the man sustaining fatal injuries.
“Humberside Fire and Rescue, Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Humberside Police all attended the scene. “An area around Queens House was initially closed off so the emergency services could deal with the incident and also make the area safe for inquiries to be carried out.”
