Doncaster lorry death inquest starts tomorrow

The inquest on a pedestrian killed in a road collision in Balby, Doncaster, last year is to be resumed tomorrow.

Andrew Wood, aged 37, from Scunthorpe, north Lincolnshire, sustained fatal injuries in a collision with a Mercedes HGV in the nearside lane of the dual carriageway on Balby Road, at around 11.20am on Saturday, November 23.

Balby Road was closed as the Yorkshire Air Ambulance landed on the other side of the dual carriageway to airlift the casualty after he was treated by paramedics.

At the the circumstances surrounding his death were unclear and a police spokesman suggested he may have jumped from railings into the path of the lorry.

The inquest is scheduled to last two days and will be heard by a jury.
