The DLTC coaching team have been delivering some free taster sessions to local primary schools in the run-up to the event in order to give pupils a taste of tennis and encourage them to come along to the Bessacarr-based club on the day and bring their families.

“We are also currently working with the XP school, delivering curriculum tennis and an after-school club, so we are hoping to see plenty of older juniors at the Open Day along with the mini tennis players,” said head coach Liz Beaton.

“We have also found from previous Open Days that parents often like to be involved with the tennis too so we are offering an adult drills session to run at the same time as the under 8s squad and a parent/child session to run at the same time as the session for the older juniors.”

She added: “We would also encourage anyone to come down who is maybe wanting to take up tennis again having not played for a while or is keen to try a new sport.
