Awareness is critical when it comes to diagnosing cancer and the women braved the cold and went one step further with a glittering fundraising event and a semi naked photo shoot.

‘Bring your Breastie’, an event organised by Equinox, which has raised more than £200,000 for Cancer Research UK and Firefly in the past four years, hosted the event at Bawtry Hall which saw more than 200 women attend and raise in excess of £9,500 for the two charities.

“We wanted to show the strength and solidarity of women and how they all pull together to cover each other’s backs through thick and thin,” said Sarah Mullen organiser.

She added: “It was at that point that I thought of enlisting a few willing volunteers to create an eye-catching photo that would really drive home the message of self-care, checking our breasts and knowing what to look for.”

The photo, taken by Louise Prestwich, has been shared via social media as far away as Australia achieving its aim in getting people talking about looking after your breasts.

“Our ‘Bring your Breastie’ event was a huge success with women from across the county enjoying prosecco in the warm spring sunshine and celebrating the strength of female friendship,” said Sarah. “Fantastic raffles, a photo booth, live music from Cat on Sax and a disco by Phoebe D’abo made for a perfect evening where everyone talked about their own boobs, health and broke down some of the barriers that many women experience when discussing such subjects.”
